This is a small shrub growing to about 2 feet. It is not fully hardy and needs protection in the winter. In the early summer it bears masses of hawthorn-like deep red flowers in June, up to 30cm tall. Well drained acid soil, warm sheltered garden or alpine house. Here I am growing it in apot in the ground as the sourounding soil is alkaline. I hope it will rival the Spirea next to it in years to come.
