This long flowering tender perennial needs a good rich soil that is moist during the summer but well-drained in winter. being tender it is only perennial in mild areas or warm, sheltered spots in the garden. There are other varieties to choose from, some of which are annuals. Don't let the pots dry out through the summer as this will make the stems of the plant become woody. Cuttings are easy to make from the tips of non-flowering shoots.
