This is a beautiful shrub when in flower. It flowers well into June and I sometimes have trouble pruning it to the shape I require as I would lose some flowers. I therefore prune it piecemeal as soon as the flowers on a particular branch stops flowering. It flowers on the present years growth. Time of year dictates whether softwood or hardwood cuttings are taken for propagation. Some branches tend to die back, but there are usually many others to take its place. If left on its own it gets leggy and can reach 15 feet(5mtrs). Here it is flowering in tune with Spanish Bluebells which makes a splendid combination.
