This perennial is hardy and gives a good showing if given a sunny site.It seems to struggle when it has to complete with other plants. It flowers in summer and spreads slowly. The flower spikes are very pretty against the light green of the leaves. It is best grown in a medium size clump when several light, blue flower spikes are produced. The flowers last for a few weeks in summer.
