This is the flower of the vodo lily. It smells of rotting meat for a day or two, but the leaves are worth the wait. The blotches on the stems of the leaves and the flowering without soil probably gives it its common name. The larger bulbs flower and bulblets are formed. The fruits are typical of arum lilies and looks like the seeds of pomegranite. It is hardy and survives the winter in the soil reappearing in late spring.
