Solomon Seal is a tough hardy rhizome forming prerennial. It will tolerate shade, but does best in a sunny position. It dies down in late summer and returns in the spring. The flowers hang down beneath each pair of leaves and are white bell shaped. They last for a long time and if the plant is sprayed to prevent snail damage to the light green leaves it is a very statuesque plant. Here it is just comming up after its winter dormancy beneath an apple tree.
