This flower prefers sunshine, but here it is grown in some shade and is gradually creeping towards the light. It spreads by thick rhizomes and dies down in the winter. It is a brilliant plant for the bees and they get lots of nectar from it. This is the main reason it is in my garden. It grows to about 3 feet(1mtr) and produces spikes of pinkish red flowers at the terminal growth of each stem. In a large clump it looks quite pretty and the leaves are also intersting.
