When I first saw this Hibiscus growing in someones garden I just had to stop and ask foe a cutting. The man gave me a couple of seedlings that were comming up. It took many years to flower but now flowers every year. It is now about 15 years old and I keep it to a height of 6 feet(2mtrs) by pruning in the winter. I am sure the soil has an effect on the colour of the flower as I am sure that when I saw it in flower so many years ago it was more purple. I have now been feeding it with Hydrangea feed and the colour is turning more purple.
