This plant spreads quickly as each root tip becoms a tuber which starts a new plant the following year. It flowers late in the autumn. Here I use the tall stems to allow the Tropaeolum tuberosum, which also flowers in October, to scramble up into the light. The bright yellow of the flowers contrast well with green leaves and growth pattern of this Jerusalem Artichoke, which does not produce large tobers suitable for eating.Used in the back border it adds height and interest.
