This tropical climber is vigorous in the tropics and is most splendorous in full bloom. It has sharp thorns and often used as fencing to deter burgulars. Over here it grows and flower well from late spring to late autumn (June to December). It needs plenty of water during growth. If allowed to dry it will drop leaves and flower. I overwinter it in a cold to cool conservatory where it drops most of its leaves, but recovers as the weather warms up. I plant it out in May. This one is now about five years old.
