In a shady area of the garden I have mixed two Asparagus ferns. A.Densiflorus and A. setaceus (pulmosus fern). The A. pulmosus is usually used as a house plant, but I have found that it survives outside with some slight covering of a sheet for the coldest part of winter. A. setaceus looks fernlike and resemples the growth of the Asparagus plant that are eaten as a vegatable. A. ferns are not true ferns, but climbing plants with flowers and sharp thorns.
