This Aloe is hardy if it can be kept away from too much water in the winter. I have grown it outside down to -10 degrees C. with only a piece of plastic to keep the rain away. It grows well outside and have survive several frosts without cover, but too much dampness can cause rot. It survives well in an unheated greenhouse in winter where it seems it thrives on neglect and being pot-bound. In the late spring after planting out it flowers well with several flower spikes. This is another plant from South Africa and is said to be hardy, but I have not tested it as yet.
