The flower head of this allium is one of the largest. It can reach up to 9 inches(23cm) and is very spectacular when fully opened. They are quite easy to grow from bulbs. I give it a rich, free draining, compost for best results. This picture shows the flower head in full bloom. The flower head can be left to produce seed and dried for flower arrangements. It then lasts for years. It is only frost hardy and the leaves die down before the flower head opens.
